Global leaders in the bioeconomy area will gather in Ottawa, from 27 to 29 November 2017, for Scaling Up 2017 event. This is the only conference of its kind in Canada that brings industry, finance, and government representatives together to discuss how to propel the global bioeconomy beyond pilot and demonstration plants to full-scale commercialization.
Scaling Up 2017 is Canada's signature industrial bioeconomy conference, bringing public and private stakeholders together to discuss solutions to accelerate the worldwide bioeconomy. Agriculture Canada classifies the industrial bioeconomy into four broad categories: biofuels, bioenergy, biomaterials, and biochemicals. All of these can be made from sustainable biomass.
Confirmed speakers include representatives from the Forest Products Association of Canada, Ikea, the Ontario Federation of Agriculture, Export Development Corporation, Sustainable Development Technology Canada, the Business Development Bank of Canada, the World Bank, the International Energy Agency, and many corporate CEOs.
On the morning of 28 November, Philippe Mengal, Bio-based Industries Joint Undertaking Executive Director, will participate in the session "Getting to Mainstream: The future for the Global Bioeconomy", with a presentation titled "Investing € 3.7 billion to bring Bio-based products to Market: Ensuring Europe competes in the global bioeconomy race".
